On Sunday August 30th, the VMAs were lighting up screens once again! The 2020 VMAs was a socially distanced, virtual red carpet, green screened, drive in audience dream. From Lady Gaga’s signature outfits with matching masks, to The Weeknd’s powerful rooftop performance, and Miley revisiting her wrecking ball moment now on a disco ball, it quickly became one of the best nights of television in 2020. SO 👏 MUCH 👏 HAPPENED👏 Here are a few of the reasons why this show will go down in history!

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “mask”erpiece of a performance! Gaga kicked things off chilling on a couch in a turquoise bodysuit, watching a '90s VMAs ceremony, before sliding down a pole and running to join her backup dancers to perform “Chromatica II” which then transitioned into "911." Gaga's bodysuit then turned purple as she was joined on stage by Ariana Grande to perform their hit single "Rain on Me." The two leading ladies of pop delivered incredible vocals, intricate choreography and wore futuristic masks the entire time. Gaga ended the performance with a stripped version of “Stupid Love”, her bodysuit changing to a pretty pink and gave us the raw, real, Gaga performance we all know and love.💋

Keke FREAKING Palmer hosted AND performed like a pro. Keke was the first black woman to SOLO host the VMAs and the first black woman as a host in 33 years! Talk about some serious black girl magic! The former Nickelodeon star has been working on other projects in the past few years, but is now ready to step right back into the spotlight. With her single “Snack”, released July 10th, she delivered fierce moves and a truly unforgettable performance!  🍬🍩🍫

BTS giving us some throwback moves all the way from South Korea with their first full English song “Dynamite”. With this new single being #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, they had no problem capturing the audience with their incredible live performance. Not only did their time on stage make us want to dance in our living rooms but, their music video for “Dynamite” also recently broke the YouTube record for views with a whopping 101 MILLION VIEWS in the first 24 hours! 2020 has truly been a great year for BTS. 🕺

This was definitely a unique show for the VMAs, but that didn’t keep the artists from pulling out all the stops and making it just as memorable, if not more so, than previous years. Sunday night just proved that even in strange times, anything is possible. 💜
