Selena Gomez is a household name. From her start in 2002 on Barney & Friends, to running her makeup brand Rare Beauty, Selena Gomez is the A-Listers American sweetheart! She spreads kindness, encourages young girls to be confident just the way they are, and is a voice for those who can’t speak up themselves! An account that emphasizes the authenticity Selena shares with the world is @crownofsel, a.k.a. Farah! Farah is a 28 year old from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, who runs a Selena Gomez fan account! We are so thankful to Farah giving us an inside scoop of what it’s like to run a fan account - Let’s jump in! 🤩
Like many of us, Farah shares that because of the Disney Channel TV Show Wizards of Waverly Place, she became a Selena Gomez fan! During this time, Selena was also slowly releasing music, as Selena Gomez & The Scene, with one of their most popular hits being “A Year Without Rain”. We definitely remember jamming to that song when it came out in 2010!❤️
But what makes Selena so special to Farah, she explains, is her personality, music, and how beautiful she is! Farah explains, “Selena has a bright and cheerful personality, one that is sure to make you smile! She is so kind; that is one of the main reasons why I have fallen in love with her!” As well, Farah explains how beautiful Selena is to her, which isn’t limited to just Selena herself, but her fashion sense as well! 🤗
As for music, Farah shares that despite Selena not having the most powerful voice, her soothing tones is what sets her apart from the rest! “Selena’s songs are incredibly popular and mainstream; she continues to produce chart-topping music and many hits!” We asked Farah if she had to pick a song as her favorite from Selena, what would it be? To our pleasure, she replied with “Who Says”! Farah explains, “It’s so catchy and the lyrics just give such positive vibes!” We are huge fans of this song and agree with Farah! The message that Selena shares with this song tells listeners not care what the haters think and be confident in who you are! 🥰
We as well asked Farah what video of Selena’s is her favorite, and she gave us two! The first one is a video of Selena giving a speech in 2013 at WE Day in California! Selena shares at the conference some of the hardships she has endured throughout her life and how to never give up on your dreams and to be confident in your goals! How inspirational! 😭
The second video is the music video for Selena’s song “Fetish (ft. Gucci Mane)”! From the artistic composition of the shots, to the aesthetic of the entire video, Farah illustrates that out of all her music videos, this is the one she loves the most! ✨
Though Farah hasn’t met or had any interactions with Selena, she undeniably has some dream collaborations that she would like Selena Gomez to have! If given the chance to plan a concert for Selena, Farah explains how she would love to see either Jennifer Lopez or BLACKPINK on stage with Selena! Songs that would be a MUST on the setlist include: “Look At Her Now”, “Dance Again”, “Ice Cream”, and “People You Know”! 💋
While talking about running her account, we asked Farah what her favorite part is about having one! Her reply was the following: “When people like what I’m doing, it makes me happy! Having people share how much they enjoy my account, what I post, and making new friends makes me feel so pleased! Simply being a part of a community brings me the most delight. Making friends within the fandom is like a second family for me! You meet people who share your same passions, and it’s quite simple to make connections with other people. This account is my safe zone!” 💕
In creating this account just over a year ago (November 11, 2020 to be exact!), @crownofsel has seen tremendous growth in a short period of time! The purpose of this account, Farah describes, is to spread positivity to her followers! By doing this, Farah hopes it inspires them to feel motivated and cheerful! 🥳
As our very last question for all Behind the Fan interviews we do, we asked Farah if she could send a message to Selena Gomez, what would she say? Here is her response!
“Thank you so much for being who you are! You mean so much to me and keep going! I hope we have the opportunity to meet in the future - We will all support you no matter what!” 🤍
