For years, bands have stolen the hearts of music lovers all across the world. From One Direction to BTS, the love these bands show towards their fans transports fans' hearts soaring through their chests. 5 Seconds of Summer, an Australian band consisting of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin, has done the exact same thing! One fan account that is dedicated to showing her love to them is @gallery.lrh, a.k.a Júlia! Júlia is 23 years old and lives in Spain, and we are so excited for her to share the behind the scenes of running her fan account! ❤️🔥
When asking Júlia about how she first discovered 5SOS (5 Seconds of Summer), she explained that she first came across them in 2014 but didn’t really think anything about it. It wasn’t until 2018, when Júlia heard their song, “You Look So Perfect” playing on a friend's Instagram story, in which she DMed her friend asking what song was playing in the background! Once confirming the song, Júlia went to YouTube and immediately all the memories came back of her 2014 self listening to their songs. From there, YouTube recommended Júlia to watch their newest music video, “Want You Back,” and the rest is history. “I was surprised because the music sounded so different, and they grew up a lot since the music videos from 2014, of course. I felt so happy because the band was still active, and they were about to start a new era that I could join!” ✨
When inquiring about Júlia’s favorite song by 5SOS, she relayed that there are so many that mean so much to her! From “Outer Space/Carry On” to “Jet Black Heart,” all 5SOS’s songs have significant meaning to her. However, if she had to choose one, it would be “Lie To Me.” Despite being a sad song, Júlia explains that it gives her a sense of comfort and really shows the feelings of Luke Hemmings closing a chapter of his life to start a healthier one. 💚
We also all know about Luke Hemming’s solo career, which Júlia explains she loves and supports wholeheartedly! At the time, only “Starting Line” and “Motion” were released. But with only those two songs released, Júlia explained how she thought both songs were amazing, and that she’s in love with Luke’s musical style! Authentic to Júlia’s heart, the song “Starting Line” really connected close to her because of all the changes and challenges she faced living alone in a new city. Júlia explains, “It felt like [Luke] was waiting at the end of the way, and he offered me this song that truly felt like a warm hug.” 🥰
As for a favorite video of 5SOS, Júlia shared a few favorites being Cocktail Chats, all the tour diaries from the Meet You There tour, and their Carpool Karabloke video! All of these videos can’t help but bring a smile to your face, which Júlia explains is one of her favorite aspects of their videos. 🤣
A specific video Júlia mentioned is of Luke Hemmings singing “Best Years” acoustically, on which she comments it's, “so calming!” We all share the same feelings that Júlia describes, and can’t help but adore this beautiful, simple video of Luke singing with just his vocals and guitar. 🎸
One of the coolest parts about running a fan account is the interactions you have with other fans and even sometimes the artists! Júlia describes a moment when this happened to her, with some of the boys from 5SOS interacting with her account! She chronicled how Ashton and Luke have liked some of her posts, and even the band account liked two of her posts! Júlia says, “I’m so happy because this page means a lot to me and seeing them appreciating the work behind this page meant the world. It feels like everything was worth it.” 🤩
We know that running a fan account takes hard work and dedication. In sharing some light of how this has all paid off, Júlia illustrates that the best part overall to having a fan account is sharing her love for the band and Luke with other fans. It is amazing to have a community right beside you to exchange opinions about songs, or to even theorize about music videos' meanings. When Júlia started this account, she never imagined where she would be today with it and how fun it would be along the way! Overall, Júlia is so happy that people like and support the page; it has become a second home for her and her followers! 😇
When asking about the best experience Júlia has had through running her fan account, Júlia explained that it would have to be when she started writing reviews for each song of the album CALM. During the past year, the band started to be inactive, so writing the reviews for each song really helped bring engagement amongst fans and the band. Different opinions and perspectives about each song could be shared, which Júlia depicts being so enriching! Once a month, Júlia would post questions on her Instagram story to interact more with her followers and even celebrate milestone occurrences, like Luke’s birthday! 🎉
We also asked Júlia to point out some favorite moments or memories she has of 5SOS and the experience she's had seeing them live! Júlia describes that her favorite memory is when she saw the boys live for the first time in 2018 at the Meet You There tour! Because this was her first time seeing a live concert, and with it being her favorite band, the all around experience was so special. Júlia recalls the moment when the boys first came to the stage, Ashton showed up first, and she started to cry and hug her friend because she couldn’t believe the moment was real! When her friend that she was hugging told her to look up and out at the stage, Júlia couldn't believe her eyes because Luke Hemmings was right in front of them! Júlia describes the moment like this: “I literally thought I was living a dream!” At the concert, Júlia even got to experience her favorite song “Lie To Me” live, and without a doubt it was the most magical moment ever! 🌟
In wrapping up our time with Júlia, we asked if she could send 5SOS or even just Luke Hemmings a message, what would she say? Here is her message to both:
To 5SOS: “Hi! Thank you for appearing in my life and changing everything for the
better. I discovered I can do a lot of things I’ve never imagined I could and that’s all
thanks to you. Your music became home and it’s an inspiration to me. It makes me
happy, and it makes me feel alive. You appeared when I needed you the most, like literal
angels, I will be forever grateful. Also, I used to hate English in high school but thanks
to you, now I adore this language and I have improved a lot! Thank you for everything, for always being humble and close to us, for inspiring us, for giving us a home and a
second family.” 🖤
To Luke: “Luke, you became my rock and my anchor. I’m so glad and fortunate to see you growing and evolving into the amazing man you are and seeing you achieving your dreams. Thank you for lightning my life every day and for being the reason why I smile. You will always have my love and support; I love loving you. Also, writing is one of my favorite things to do, but I stopped doing it, and you were the reason why I started to write again, I’m so grateful. I love you so much.” 🤍
We love how much Júlia loves 5SOS and Luke! She is such a dedicated fan, and she has done an amazing job of creating community for 5SOS fans to come together and celebrate the boys - Luke in particular!
