New Year, New Music! 🥳

One of the most exciting parts of the new year is all of the new music! Whether from your current favorite or your next favorite artist, there is going to be a TON of amazing new music in 2022! We are sharing what is confirmed, and rumored, to be released sometime this year! ❤️

This year, we can expect the unexpected from Machine Gun Kelly. His 2020 pop-punk album Tickets to my Downfall topped the Billboard top 200 and left us all eager to hear more from him! He has confirmed that it is his goal to release not one, but TWO albums this year! After teasing new music on New Year’s Eve, MGK took to Twitter to share his plans! He told fans the new music would be headed our way in 2022 and three days later tweeted, “two albums this year.” We have confirmation that one album (presumably the first) will be titled Born With Horns. The singer’s sixth studio album is already available for pre-order on his website despite not even having the album cover visible to the public yet. MGK shares that this album will take on a bit of a different direction than Tickets to my Downfall in the way that it will be “lyrically deeper” and “more guitar-heavy.” It is unconfirmed whether or not both albums will exemplify the same tone, or if MGK continues to have more tricks up his sleeve. Apart from his own projects, Machine Gun Kelly will apparently be featured on a new Avril Lavigne album this year as well! 😱

Yes, you read that right! The queen of pop-punk herself, Avril Lavigne, is confirmed to be releasing an album this year. Though no title has been released yet, the album has an anticipated release date of early 2022. Avril has described her seventh studio album as, “a love letter to women” and will feature sounds reminiscent of the early days of her career. She is not stopping there though! The Canadian singer has teased plans to make her 2002 classic “Sk8er Boi” into a MOVIE! 🎬

While we have plenty of confirmed albums dropping this year, there is always room to speculate! Though Nashville-formed, Los Angeles-based band LANY released their third and fourth studio albums mama’s boy and gg bb xx and toured the UK and North America in under a year, they are not slowing down in 2022! After releasing Australian and New Zealand tour dates last month, LANY’s front man and main songwriter took to Instagram yesterday and shared that another album is already in the works. Knowing the consistency and speed of this band, there is a definite chance that we could get the fifth LANY album this year! ⭐️

On the topic of productive artists, we all have our guesses as to when Taylor Swift will drop her next project! Putting out both Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) last year, Taylor has left fans stunned at her songs from the vault and reminiscent of listening to our old favorites. Taylor is notorious for putting Easter eggs that hint at upcoming projects into everything she does. In her music video for “I Bet You Think About Me,” we are presented with a storyline similar to that of the 2010 hit single “Speak Now,” leaving fans speculating that Taylor could be hinting at Speak Now being her next re-release. On the other hand, the number five can be seen throughout the video, which some say could allude to Taylor’s fifth studio album 1989 being the next to be released! Excited fans have also raised questions about when Taylor will tour next, as she has not been on the road since the Reputation tour concluded in late 2018. Whatever plans Taylor has for 2022 will more than likely exceed ALL of our expectations!🕵🏽

With all of the rumors and speculations of new music this year, one name keeps coming up: Harry Styles. Though Harry was extremely busy wrapping up his 2021 North American Love on Tour and starring in numerous films such as Marvel’s Eternals, Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman, the fact remains that he has not had a release since the Fine Line album in December 2019. Rumors are flying speculating new music from the British icon to be released sometime around March of this year! We are crossing our fingers! 👀

Whether or not you listen to the artists on this list, there is guaranteed to be a release for you this year! A new year means so many possibilities to connect with music that you love. With the year already off to a great start with albums like star-studded, retro-sounding Dawn FM by The Weeknd, there is no telling just what 2022 has in store for us! ✨
