The VMAs have come and gone, and WOW were we all in for a treat! From Justin Bieber making his first appearance at the awards show since 2015, to Kacey Musgraves’ first ever performance of “star-crossed,” the 2021 VMAs provided us with amazing performances and some well-deserved wins! Here is a recap of all that happened! 🎉

Hosting the show was Doja Cat, who not only narrated us throughout the entire production but also gifted us with a trapeze performance while singing “Been Like This” and “You Right.” Doja Cat was soaring over the stage surrounded by a gigantic ring light, which elevated her performance to another level! 💫

Of course, we HAVE to discuss the queen of the night, who not only performed her hit single “good 4 u” but also won three awards: Miss Olivia Rodrigo! Olivia glowed on stage while performing “good 4 u,” and it was evident how captivated the audience was by shouting her lyrics back to her! We also can’t forget the three awards she won,

being Best New Artist, Song of the Year, and

Push Performance of the Year. ❤️‍🔥

A comeback performance from Justin Bieber! This was big since Justin hasn’t taken the VMA stage since his 2015 performance of “Where Are U Now” and “What Do You Mean?” He shared the stage with THE KID LAROI singing their hit single, “Stay” and also performed his song “Ghost” off of his most recent album Justice. At the end of the night, Bieber took home two awards for Artist of the Year and Best Pop Song. 🤘🏼

We can’t forget the most important win of the night for Video of the Year, which went to none other than Lil Nas X! Lil Nas X performed his hit single “INDUSTRY BABY featuring Jack Harlow and also a shortened version of “MONTERO (Call Me When You Want).” I think we can all say that his performance was none other than mesmerizing since we couldn’t take our eyes away from the screen! 🤩

Important announcements were made through some of the performances, such as Twenty One Pilots frontman Tyler Joseph announcing a second child is on the way with his wife Jenna Joseph! During his performance of “Saturday,” he shouted out that his wife is pregnant with their second child, and instead of texting it, he decided to announce it right there on live TV! What a way to share the happy news!! 🤰

A man not usually known for his dance skills but who won the award for Best Choreography is Harry Styles for his song, “Treat People With Kindness!” Because Harry is currently on tour, he was not present to accept his award. However, that does not stop us from obsessing over his golden dance moves, which makes us want to live in the world of

the “Treat People With Kindness” music video! 😇

As for other important events from the night, performances by Normani, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, and Chlöé set the stage on fire! Normani performed her single “Wild Side,” which featured dazzling dance sequences; Teyana Taylor also surprised guests by performing with Normani at the show. She helped Normani close out her incredible performance!
